Movie Review: Obsessed 2014

Obsessed : (Hangul: 인간중독; RR: In-gan-jung-dok; lit. "Human Addiction" or "Human Intoxication") a 2014 South Korean erotic thriller film written and directed by Kim Dae-woo.

The movie was Set in 1969 at the end of the Vietnam War, elite officer and war hero Colonel Kim Jin-pyeong is about to get promoted to general however, falls into a fatal and obsessive love affair that forces him to give up everything he has achieved.

Colonel Kim Jin-pyeong is married to Sook-jin and are high up on the totem pole, with added benefit coming from Sook-jin being the camp commandant's daughter, but apparently he isn't that at bliss considering he suffers from post-traumatic disorder after the Vietnam War and his affection towards his ambitious wife has faded.

Ga-heun, the Chinese-Korean wife of one of the recently transferred captain before meeting Colonel Kim, Ga-heun's marriage is no bliss either as her relationship with her husband feels more like a brother and sister rather than lovers. After all, she was adopted by his family when she was younger after she had lost her family. Colonel Kim is the first man whom she has fallen in love with, but despite the fact that she loves him she felt she couldn't abandon everything and left with him.

The story depict the tragic story of two married people who found love in the most unexpected yet forbidden way. It was a slow pace movie though, but the content was superb in a way of how they were able to give justice to their characters. I'm a not so fan of tragic love story but I'll make this one an exemption. I really could say that this movie is worth watching for aside from the really good cinematography, the love scene was awesomely made in the most alluring, passionate and intimate way that you could've possibly think of, it like it could take you away from the reality for a moment.. :)

Hope you enjoy watching like I did. :)
